As some of the stories I have been told from my father (paul) before he passed away, the house the shaposka family lived in was located near the Monongahela River. Steves father worked for Lilly Cole mine comany, in Union town Pa. in Wich was also located near the Monongahela River. Some time in the late 1930's early 1940's. he met a woman named Betty Fakete. (not clear on the spelling of surname), she was from Brownsville PA. Before Steve left for the Army to fight in WWII, he became engaged to Miss Betty Fakete. They never married. Steve had died in the War before he could come home to marrie Betty. Although I do not have any for certain photo's of Steve Shaposka before or during the War. In my father's belogings, I had found a photo of Steves fiance' Betty, standing with possibly her mother. (as my father was not sure who the woman with betty was). It is still unclear as to why Steve Shaposka Joined the army weather he was drafted or joined on his own. He was the first in his family to actually go to war.
I still to this day have not found much on my uncle Steve. But I continue this search,to find some of the answers to my questions. For me he is a mystery, I will keep looking to find.
